12 More Children Die from Measles and its Complications

Nationwide, 12 more children have died from measles and its complications in the last 24 hours. In the same period, 1,303 children were newly infected. This brings the total number of deaths to 451 over the last two months.

This information was reported in a press release sent on Friday (May 15) by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The press release stated that in the last 24 hours, 1,192 individuals nationwide were suspected of having measles, while 111 were confirmed. In total, the number of new infections stands at 1,303.

According to DGHS data, from March 15 to May 15, the number of suspected measles patients in the country is 55,611, and confirmed patients total 7,416. During this period, 40,176 patients were admitted to hospitals, and 36,055 have been discharged after recovering from treatment.

Regarding death statistics, 8 children died from suspected measles in the last 24 hours. Additionally, 4 more children died from confirmed measles. In total, 12 deaths occurred in a single day.

According to DGHS calculations, from March 15 to May 15, the number of deaths from suspected measles is 377, and from confirmed measles is 74. This means the total number of deaths during this period has reached 451.
